Lubrication for bearings is a major portion of our coatings business. The WS2 is an excellent coating for bearings where conventional lubricants can not be used or where the application requires the insurance of a permanent lubricant for extended wear life as in gear motors or transmissions. From miniature bearings used in dental hand pieces to large bearings for electrical power plants, the WS2 coating extends wear life between 2 to 5 times.

Several coatings can be used for lubrication. Dry lubricants such as MoS2 or WS2 are used most often but in different applications. The WS2 is used where close tolerances, high heat, or clean room environments are present. The MoS2 coating is used more as a sacrificial coating where "wear in" is necessary and a thicker coating is desirable. MicroLube and our line of greases are excellent products, designed for heavy industrial applications or the food grades for processing situations. Normal wash down solutions do not remove the grease from bearing applications.
